Ollie & Manton

Get to know Ollie…

Having spent his formative years cutting his teeth on the Keeneland and Saratoga backstretch under the watchful eye of master horseman and world renowned sprint king Wesley Ward, Ollie has more recently been based with top Irish horseman Joseph O’Brien and his team at the picturesque county Kilkenny base, learning firsthand the tricks of the trade that has seen the O’Brien family rise to such world renowned prominence over the last two decades. Further to this, stints under classic winning trainers David Hayes in Melbourne, Hugo Palmer in Newmarket and Charlie Hills in Lambourn has helped to provide an invaluable education and strong foundation for the future.

Manton House…

Since its creation in 1860 under the stewardship of Alec Taylor, Manton has seen success of the highest levels globally and established itself as one of the finest private training establishments in the world. Manton has produced the winners of over 50 classics, the first coming in 1873 with Gang Forward winning the 2000 Guineas for Alec Taylor, and this hallowed turf continues to provide top level winners to this day. The Sangster family has had a long and successful history at Manton since its acquisition by Robert Sangster in 1984, with the likes of John Gosden, Barry Hills, Peter Chapple-Hyam, Brian Meehan and Martyn Meade all sending out multiple Group 1 winners and champions during their respective tenures. Renowned not just for its racing heritage, Manton’s charm has inspired many artists, including Sir Alfred Munnings.

The opportunity to start another chapter in the story of Manton and the Sangster family’s relationship is one that Ollie is incredibly grateful and appreciative of, and through dedication, hard work and horsemanship Sangster is confident that it can be a prosperous relationship for years to come.
